The Catholic Church in the Philippines will be celebrating the first 500 years of Christianity next year, 2021. However, the Philippine Government is having its own secular celebration. But the question is whether the establishment of the country be separated from the implanting of the Christian Cross upon the archipelago? Is this another misinterpretation and misrepresentation of the principle of the separation of the Church and State? Didn't we become "Philippines" because the Catholic Spaniards "conquered" the archipelago and gave its name after the Prince of Asturias who became King Philip II of Spain later on? Is this a "rebellion" against God whose blessings and goodness have been showered upon this side of the world beginning with the baptism of our ancestors to become Christians and so know, love and serve the true God from being worshipers of spirits, elementals, and anitos?
